APPRENTICESHIP

Bricklayers Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee
661 Southrock Drive
Rockford IL  61102
phone: (815) 963-5336 (wednesdays only)

An apprenticeship with Local #6 is a 3 1/2 year program that involves both on-the-job training and schooling.  Pay starts at 50% of Journeyman scale plus full benefits (merit increases every 6 months).  Most apprentices attend a 12 week "boot camp" before starting on a job site.  Apprentices are paid while on the job, but not for schooling.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPRENTICESHIP
  • Completed JATC Application
  • Copy of a photo ID
  • Copy of a Birth Certificate
  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • Apprentice applicants may be requested to appear before the JATC for an interview.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications for apprenticeship can be obtained in person, requested to be mailed over the phone (on the apprenticeship number only - do NOT call the Local) or requested to be mailed via e-mail through Local #6 (local6@rockriver.net).  Completed applications include the JATC application, a copy of a photo ID, and a copy of a birth certificate.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted.  All apprenticeships are based on contractor need.

DAYS AND TIMES TO APPLY
The Apprenticeship office is open on Wednesdays only from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.  This time is set aside for applicants and questions about the program. The Local #6 office will not answer questions about the apprenticeship program.
