The International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers is the oldest labor organization in North America. BAC Local Union #6 IL was formed in October 1993 by merging 11 smaller BAC locals in mid and northern Illinois. At the time of consolidation, several of these smaller locals were over 100 years old. Local #6 IL is defined by 6 chapters - Bloomington, Kankakee, LaSalle, Peoria, Rock Island and Rockford - representing approximately 1,500 members. The purpose of the union is to provide for, protect and improve the general welfare of its members. BRANCHES OF TRADE Local #6 IL represents many branches of trade including: bricklayers, cement masons, marble masons, mosiac workers, plasterers, pointer-cleaner-caulkers, stone masons, terrazzo workers, tile setters and tile finishers. JURISDICTION The jurisdiction of BAC Local #6 IL includes the following Illinois counties: Boone, Bureau, Carroll, DeWitt, Ford (north of Roberts), Fulton, Henderson, Henry, Iroquois, JoDavies, Kankakee, Knox, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, McLean, Mercer, Ogle, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Stephenson, Tazewell, Warren, Whiteside, Winnebago and Woodford. The jurisdiction also includes Scott County in Iowa and Fulton and Montpelier Townships in Muscatine County in Iowa. |
